Writing is a journey. And as each journey must begin with a single step, so must one book start with a single word.
Writing has always been a huge part of my life. My mother has told me, for as long as I can remember, that I always had a pen in hand, scribbling away on a sheet of paper. Or I would prattle on and on about all these worlds I was creating in my head. Writing has been an escape that I have utilized for all of my life, and I doubt that will change.
Authors who have influenced my writing and author-career:
One of my absolute best friends, Reno is a great author themselves (I’m basing this off what little I’ve read of their work). I can’t wait for their debut to come out so I can scream to the world “MY BEST FRIEND DID THIS!”
Author of the Ilbeor Saga, T.J. Klapprodt has an immense talent that draws readers into the world she so lovingly creates. (She’s also really cool.)
I was absolutely blown away by Xiran Jay Zhao’s talent when I first read Iron Widow. I cannot wait to see what else they write.
One of the first romance authors I remember reading, despite the fact I was far too young to be reading her works. She carved out a special place in my library.
The Percy Jackson series is one of my favorite series. Mr. Riordan does a great job blending mythology with modern realism.
Need I expound on this? Gothic stories told with eloquence and creepiness hand-in-hand.
I love the whole “a mad man wrote this” vibe. (Don’t quite like the guy himself.)

Can’t have writing without the good tunes

Literally none of my writing gets done on a schedule!

Three kids, two cats, and a husband. Need I say more?
for literally everything
What is writing without a handy-dandy laptop? Painful. It’s painful. For me, anyway. Writing by hand is usually a no-go
for writing and editing
I started using Scrivener a few years ago, and I’ve never looked back. It’s such a helpful program designed to organize thoughts into a usable manuscript.
Gotta organize/plot/write somehow
I stumbled onto EmberWrite not too long ago and decided on a whim to download the beta. I am so glad I did. It is honestly one of my favorite programs to write, plot, and organize characters/places in. The only thing that would make it better is if it had a mobile app. Maybe in the future…
For designing beautiful book interiors with a cute doggy companion
Atticus is a wonderful, user-friendly program used for formatting books. I’ve used it to format my—and an author friend’s—books, 8 in total. It’s a one-time purchase that has come in handy many, many times.
Let’s get formattin’… again
I also use Affinity for page design if I want something more in-depth/complex in my formatting. (Unfortunately, no cute doggy companion.)
For backing up my writing
I use Ellipsus as a way to back writing up to another location than just my Dropbox, OneDrive, hard-drive, local server, and my emails. (Phew.) Based in Germany (I think), they have some pretty awesome privacy policies and no AI, which I appreciate,
